GYPSY COB PASSPORTS

scroll down for complete news update

As  you may have read in the equestrian press, we have taken over the management & updating of passports issued by the Gypsy Cob Society.
If you have a Gypsy Cob passport that requires updating, e-mail us at wistra1-gypsycobpassports@yahoo.co.uk
& we will be pleased to help you. We will also issue new passports to Gypsy Cob types throughout the UK.

PASSPORT  INFORMATION

The passport is a legal document which every owner of every equine must have. It is illegal not to have a passport for your horse.  You risk a substantial fine by not having a passport for your horse or failing to have your passport updated into your ownership.

A stud book recognised equine is a horse or pony recognised as a breed/type by it's relevant breed society. Not all stud book societies are PIO's (passport issuing organisations). To cover this, some Breed PIO's issue passports to horses of another breed in order to give the horse legal status.

THIS IN NO WAY INFRINGES ON THE STATUS OF THE HORSE/PONY AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF IT'S BREED. There is a sometimes not so obvious difference between breed society registration and Passport Issuing Organisation registration.

We are a breed society for the Lipizzaner and a PIO for all equines including the Gypsy Cob . We  issue passports to a high standard to ensure every equine that carries our passport is in a legal position.

Our office has been set up to carry out the correct issuing of passports since 2002 and has the latest, up to date facilities at it's disposal. We will insert lineage details only if they are verified by a known Gypsy Cob breeder or are already noted in original Gypsy Cob Society passports.  We would like to assure owners of Gypsy Cobs that we take the issuing of correct and legal passports very seriously.

Equally, we consider the authentic bloodlines of these magnificent cobs to be very important and these lines should and must be maintained. We understand the importance of genetics in The Gypsy Cob as we have to prove & maintain the lineage of the Lipizzaner breed back over 450 years.

If you receive a passport from this office, you can have it overstamped by other societies of your choice.
